CERN tech in space: the first CERN-driven satellite has been successfully launched
On 13 July, the first CERN-driven satellite was sent into space!

With the launch of the CELESTA satellite for radiation monitoring in space, CERN shows its expertise in the field of radiation effects on electronics.
CERN tech nominated for innovation award at 2022 Geneva Health Forum
At the 2022 Geneva Health Forum, CERN showcased how technologies and innovation behind high-energy physics can contribute to innovations within medical applications. CAFEIN, a federated learning platform for collaborative AI training, was one of the seven finalists nominated for the Jet d’Or innovation award.
CERN to partner with industry on innovation to reduce environmental impact of large-scale facilities
In its commitment to minimising its environmental impact and developing technologies that can help society towards a better planet, CERN has formed an innovation partnership with ABB, with the aim of reducing the Laboratory’s energy consumption through the optimisation of its cooling and ventilation system.
Collaborate with CERN to solve your problems in quantum technology
Between 11th - 14th July 2022, CERN will be visiting various locations in the UK to spark collaborations with companies in the quantum industry. These events will provide an opportunity to find out how CERN’s technology can benefit your company,  and are also a chance to meet CERN's Knowledge Transfer Team one-on-one to discuss potential collaboration opportunities.
BSBF2022, an opportunity to do learn about knowledge transfer opportunities
At Big Science Business Forum 2022, CERN will present how its various areas of expertise translate into impact across industries beyond CERN.

Attendants can come meet us to learn more about the three technologies that will be showcased:
  • White Rabbit Technology.
  • Robotics platforms and software for specialised interventions in harsh environments.
  • Singular Light: Integrated Single Mode Laser Converter.

Date: 4-7 October 2022
Workshop on Clinical Translation of Flash Therapy
To stimulate the clinical translation of FLASH therapy, Switzerland’s Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) and ISREC foundation are organising on the 15th of September 2022 a one Day Multidisciplinary Workshop gathering distinguished international experts for FLASH.

CERN and CHUV are collaborating to develop an innovative electron FLASH radiotherapy facility that would deliver high radiation doses in milliseconds instead of minutes.
HITRIplus - A Next Generation Tool Against Cancer
HITRIplus (Heavy Ion Therapy Research Integration) aims to propel research on cancer treatment with heavy ions forward by developing cutting-edge technologies. Lowering costs and dimensions, the project’s new generation of compact instruments could grant European companies an edge to address the potentially growing global ion therapy market. HITRIplus is research project funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 programme.
